Where to Stay in Iquique

Ocean views by Cavancha, or the old town on your doorstep — here is where to sleep.

Iquique is a long, thin city, and where you stay shapes your trip. Most visitors choose the seafront around Cavancha beach and the peninsula: you can walk to the sand, restaurants and the casino, and paragliding and sandboarding operators pick up here. The historic centre, two kilometres north, is cheaper and puts you beside Baquedano and Plaza Prat.

Below are the properties we would look at first, all checked on Trip.com for location and guest scores. We do not show hotel photographs — we have no licence to use them — and we do not quote nightly rates, which change constantly with the season. Every card links to live prices and availability.

  • Pools and a resort atmosphere: the peninsula.
  • Sightseeing on a budget: the historic centre near Plaza Prat.
  • Families and longer stays: an apartment-style hotel a few minutes from the sand.
Book early for January, February and mid-July. Chilean summer holidays fill the seafront hotels, and the La Tirana festival around 16 July takes up rooms across the region. For the rest of the year you can usually book a few days ahead.

Wherever you stay, ask the hotel to show you its tsunami evacuation route — every seafront property has one.
